Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

"My name is Dodger. My foster mom named me Dodger after rescuing me on the service road of Beltway 8, miracuously "dodging" traffic. My horoscope must have been full of fortune that day. Until she pulled over and I jumped in the back of her car, my future didn't hold much promise. Since then, I have been living the good life. The only thing missing in my life is a forever family to love me and appreciate my unique personality. As far as my pedigree, who knows? I'm long-bodied like a beagle or basset hound with short legs but my face looks like a labrador retreiver. I'm not one to brag but I'm a handsome dude. My chestnut color is quite attractive along with my flashy white markings. I'd say I'm a "keeper".

I mentioned my "unique" personality. Let me tell you a little more about it. I love to be elevated. If I have finished going potty in the backyard, my foster mom finds me laying on the chaise lounge or on the patio table. Hey, the view is better when you are the "top" dog..

I love to stretch out on my tummy with my legs sprawled apart. The cool tile feels wonderful on my tummy. I spend a lot of time lying on my back with my feet in the air, just inviting someone to give my tummy a rub. If you adopt me, let me warn you, you will need to keep me supplied with squeaky toys. I hold the world speed record for removing squeakers from toys. As much as I love playing with squeaky toys, my very favorite thing to do is play with my foster's 3-year-old daughter. While I lay on the floor, she likes to cover me with as many blankets as she can find. We build nests together. When I get up, I usually walk around the house with several blankets draped over me. You just gotta love kids and I do.

Well, enough about my charm... You'd probably like to know a few other facts about me. I'm about three-years-old. I have successfully completed heartworm treatment. I'm embarrassed to admit but I like cats too much. They remind me of the squeaky toys and they are just too irresistible. I would do better in a home without cats to distract me. I like most dogs and do great with my foster's dogs. Every now and then I meet a canine that gives me the creeps and I don't want to be around them. I'm sure you've experienced that before with some humans. When my foster mom says "go to your house", I go straight to my crate and get inside. I'm definitely a special guy that's been given another chance at life and love. Please give me a chance to bring your family lots of laughs and lots of love!"
