Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

My name is Burke (now known as Dexter) and I'm a handsome, fawn guy around 10 years old now. I've been in a home for several years and unfortunately my family has fallen on hard times and can no longer care for me so they recently returned me to LSBR.  

I enjoy the company of other dogs as well as cats and children!  I'm house broken, crate trained and clearly enjoy my toys!  My family reports that my favorite things include playing (but keep the squeaky toys away....I enjoy eating the squeaker and that's not good for me) and getting a lot of attention!  I'm definitely a 'hugger'...just say the word 'hug' and I'm happy to oblige!   

I'm looking forward to a bright future...one that includes a lot of love!  What about you?
