Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

ADOPTION PENDING!

Hello....my name is Luke and what can I say........I'm a big, goofy boxer boy!  I'm approximately 3.5 years old, very tall, dark and handsome!

Now that I'm in a wonderful foster home, I've been evaluated more and my foster family says that I'm a very polite house guest!  Here's what they know about me so far:

He is fully house trained and uses the doggie door easily.  He is anti-crate but he loves his dog bed. He will choose to lounge in it, if it's in the same room where you are.  He absolutely LOVES his blanket and sleeps with it every night!  He understands that you may not want him on the couch and he's good with laying in a soft spot nearby.  He is not very interested in toys or chewing, but instead really just wants to be in the same place with you. He is a mellow guy that occasionally gets the yen to zoom across the yard. But really, he's pretty chillax.  He just wants someone to talk to him, pet him....sing to him, even.  He doesn't snore at night, but he does think grooming is important, especially at bedtime (recall "tall, dark and handsome").  And so, of course, he doesn't mind baths.  Likes car rides, but not hanging his head out the window (messes up the fur on his ears).  He is not grabby at mealtimes, but does like to watch the preparation process. He takes treats very softly and nicely.  Doesn't really have a slobbery mouth (except perhaps if steak was involved....and then a little drool is understandable). Doesn't seem to be a barker.  And he's a handsome guy with smarts - he learns routines and schedules very quickly.

Now you know that no one is perfect!  I must admit that I enjoy being the 'king of my castle', you know, an only dog although I could co-exist with a very submissive female.  I enjoy laying on the couch and, due to my size, I have learned to 'counter surf'.  I enjoy the company of kids but, because I'm a big boy, I think I should be around kids about 10 years old and older.  My foster family says that I do this "Jedi mind trick" when you ask me to do something not on my agenda - so you have to wait me out.  A patient person who likes the occasional staring contest or someone who is a Star Wars fan, or both would make the perfect home for me!  But really, I am just laid back guy who likes snacks and pets. I'm very responsive to the rare times my foster family has told me 'No'! I follow "go there" (finger pointing...) very well because I am eager to please and fit in!

What do you say.....I would love to fit in with you!!!!
