Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Learn more about the Boxer.

My name is Sophie, and I am a three and one-half year old boxer. I've been told I'm a big girl, but I like to think of myself as healthy and beautiful. I have been living with the most wonderful people, but their older boxer decided that she really wanted the family to herself, and I have come to the decision that I might also do best as the only dog. I am a very sweet and gentle girl, and I've even been through obedience training, so I know all the usual commands - and more! So it goes without saying that I'm also house and crate trained. I'm also very brave - I don't let thunder or other loud noises scare me. I've come to the conclusion that I like boy dogs better than girls, and I kind of enjoy barking at cats (so I might not want to live with one). I love to play with my babies (all my stuffed toys), play fetch with my tennis balls, play tug-o-war... well, just play! I can also swim. I do know one thing: you will not find a dog with a bigger heart. If you are looking for one dog to steal YOUR heart, Sophie will be your choice.
