Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

My name is Kenny........I just arrived from Harris County Animal Shelter.  I'm estimated to be somewhere around 3 years old with a natural tail!

11/1 Update from my foster family:
Kenny follows the rules better than any dog I've ever had in my care. We have neighbors on either side both have young male dogs and when they all discovered each other it became a crazed barking scene running up and down the fence line. It took only one time of me telling him NO and he's never done it again. He will sit on the back porch now and watch the neighbor dogs with mild curiosity they will even bark at him to test him but he will not go over there and bark. I am impressed! He gets along fine with our big, older female bloodhound. They've never had a conflict. He is good with my kids ages 9 and 10. I think he needs a playmate to release some energy our bloodhound is not energetic. We walk every day and some days he pulls a lot on the leash so we're working on that. You definitely have to be strong if there's a squirrel or cat! He is very loyal once he feels trust and understands who's in charge. He loves being with people until its bedtime and then he snuggles a lot then walks to his crate. He will go in and out of his crate until I close the door for the night. He never whines in his crate. He requires slow introduction to other people when we have visitors or he will bark at them either he's scared or he's being protective.

I‘m in a foster home now with Bailey the bloodhound and things are going very well.  My foster family calls me Kenny G because I ‘sing’ along to my foster sibling’s howling!  I love for my neck to be scratched.....my foster family calls it my ‘upward dog’ yoga pose because I stretch my head so far back I almost fall backwards!  In just three days, I learned to sit at the door before coming inside.  I learned to patiently sit while waiting for my meals. And if I wanted pets...I needed to sit pretty.  I also learned the kitchen was off limits unless invited.   My foster Mom said I was such a good boy because I learned and followed the rules so quickly.  What can I say....I aim to please!  I love long walks and am very curious about everything I encounter!  I like my toys but I love people......just hanging out being all chill!  I really like the little people and would love it if my forever home has some of them!  I also wouldn’t mind a forever home with other dogs......as long as they’re my size or larger......please no cats or small dogs (they look like cats to me)!
