Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Hi, I bet you can’t guess why my name is Dotti! I know - I am one very unique looking Boxer. My foster Mom says my markings make me look like a cow, but I snort like a pig when I’m sniffing around the yard. She says I am a very sweet girl and she calls me by a special name - “Dot, Dot, Polka Dot.” My owners gave me away because their other dogs didn’t get along with me. Nobody knows for sure what happened to me after that because I ended up in a shelter three weeks later. That’s when LSBR was called and someone came to my rescue - just in the nick of time. That’s not something I want to talk about though – whew! I have been pretty anxious for the last two weeks in my foster home. At first I thought for sure their other dogs meant trouble for me but they are actually pretty fun, except for the little one. We just leave each other alone and all is well – he just doesn’t like to play anymore. I didn’t feel great when I first got here because I had just had surgery. And the food tasted different so I didn’t have much of an appetite until very recently. But now it tastes pretty good and I am putting some weight back on. Soon I will be looking my best again (a girl has to watch her figure, you know). I am still adjusting to feeling safe in my new environment so I tend to be pretty quiet when I am not wrestling with me new friends. I am happiest when the people are home and love nothing more than to snuggle up for a nice nap. The only thing I don’t like here is that cage (my foster Mom thinks it brings back bad memories). I was so unhappy they let me pick my own spot where I felt safe to sleep in, and I really like it there. I am a very good girl and have not had any accidents. My foster family and I are still getting to know each other so there are things we aren’t sure of yet. They do not have any small children but they were told I had been around them before and liked them. I am very gentle with my human friends so I am sure I would be just as gentle with smaller ones. I have showed a bit of interest in cats but I haven’t chased any while I have been here. Oh – the best thing of all about being in my foster home are the stuffed animals. I loved the first one they bought me so much that I sort of loved it to death! They seem to have a pretty good supply of them so I should be ok. Check back for new information…
