This Spirit Can't be Broken
I think when you hear my story, you'll understand how I got my name, Spirit. I am just 10 months old, but I have had more bad times than any dog at any age should have to face. When I was rescued recently from a shelter, I weighed only 28 pounds. I had a fever of 105.2 degrees, and was diagnosed with malnutrition, demodectic mange and a bacterial infection. But I was so thrilled to be saved, and I am loving all of the attention I am getting from my LSBR friends. I knew there were nice people out there, but I am just now getting a chance to meet them! And the food - who knew I could ever get enough to eat? I am beside myself with happiness. I love other dogs, but haven't felt much like playing yet. I'm sure that will come later when I'm feeling a bit stronger. I like cats, too! I'm also crate trained. I do have some scarring, but I'm hoping that my coat will cover most of it once it starts growing back. Some of my external scars might not fade, but all the hurt inside is beginning to disappear. I never lost my faith that something good was going to happen, even though it was pretty scary there for a while. I just know now that my life is changing for the better, and that soon I'll have a safe home and a loving family of my very own!
