Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Wow! Take a look at me! Remember me, Dutch? You can read my whole story below, but I just wanted to tell you that my angel foster mom has been taking such awesome care of me, and I look (and feel) like a new dog! My Sarcoptic mange has cleared up, and I am feeling so good on my raw diet. If anyone ever wonders why it is so important to foster, or has any concerns about how their donations are put to use, well I'm the poster boy for both! I still have some health issues to address, but I feel good! (And who guessed I was this handsome?) Thanks to everyone who has helped me, especially my foster mom, Debbie, who has given me the courage to face every day.

My name is Dutch, and as you can see, I haven't been having the best of times lately. The shelter where I was staying was afraid no one would want me, but my new year started off on a positive note when Lone Star Boxer Rescue took one look at me and knew they had to get me well! Luckily for me, the volunteers at LSBR know that an imperfect exterior can't hide the beautiful soul deep inside.

I'm six years old, and seriously underweight. My preliminary vet exam revealed that I've got some serious healing to do: intestinal worms, heartworms, sarcoptic mange, secondary viral and bacterial infections... you have to ask yourself: how does a dog owner let this happen to their pet? I honestly thought there was no hope for me, but every person - from the vet to the volunteers - tells me they won't stop working with me until I am completely recovered! Wow - I'm feeling more optimistic every day! I know I'm not easy to look at right now, but I do have such a sweet nature. And there is this handsome guy just waiting to emerge from this ugly cocoon.

So here is where the "dutch treat" part comes in: if you can help LSBR with my vet bills, I will fight as hard as I can to get well as soon as possible! Sound like a deal? I promise to keep you updated on my progress. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
