Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

The day my foster mom found me I was aimlessly walking in the middle of a busy road, unaware of the cars dodging me and the danger I was in.  All I knew is that my leg hurt with every step I took and that my insides were gnawing at me with hunger pains.  I had just been shot at with a pellet gun by some kids and being just a puppy myself with no mama to comfort and protect me, I was truly lost and hopeless.

So many people drove by and honked but finally, one car stopped and a lady got out and followed me into a clump of trees. At first, I didn't know if I could trust her or anyone for that matter but I realized that I had to have faith if I wanted to survive.  I didn't come to her at first but my tail was wagging.  She started to turn and walk away and I chose to follow her. She heard me and she turned around, squatted down and called to me.  I tucked my tail under and lowered by head and crawled to her.  When her gentle hand touched me, I knew I was safe and that my prayers were answered. I then showered her with kisses on her chin.

My name is Winnie and I am about 9 months old.  I will not be a very big dog although my photos make me look bigger than I am. They say the camera adds 15 pounds. I believe it.  I am crate and house-trained and I love to play with other dogs and children. My favorite activity is playing with my foster mom's daughter. She is really sweet and fun.

I am also good with cats.  I am all love and puppy wiggles.  I know "sit" and am learning to walk on the leash. I am a healthy and grateful puppy and the thought of finding my forever home with a family that will love, protect and play with me makes me so happy.  Won't that family be yours? Don't be shy. Let's meet."
