Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Lexi (formerly Sweets)
Lexi (formerly Sweets)

Dear LSBR, As the year comes to a close we wanted to say thank you for all that you do. We lost our "first child", Dylan (8yr old male Boxer) earlier in the year. My husband and I were devastated and our 4yr old daughter was heartbroken. After careful consideration we decided our house was not a home with out a boxer. However, we decided this time around that we did not want to buy a dog from a breeder, but rather we wanted to make a difference in the life of a dog who desperately needed a home. We are so thankful we made this decision. Lexi has quickly become a cherished member of our family. She is such a sweet and loving dog. I am amazed everyday by her gentle nature with my daughter and my 1yr old son. We are anxiously awaiting completion of her heartworm treatment, so that she can run and play with the kids. Thanks again for helping to save these wonderful dogs and for adding so much to the lives of the families who adopt them. Shawn, Quan, Hana & Jonah Dinh

Gideon
Gideon

LSBR, Josh and I wanted to say thank you so much for your organizations exsistance! The LSBR is a fabulous organization that truly loves and cares for their animals. We adopted Gideon at the end of September 07' and he has been a blessing to our family! He is such a joy to have and has added a special touch to our lives. We do not have children yet but we completely consider Gideon our baby boy! He loves to go running and play in the lake. He is growing so fast- currently 50+ pounds and has just turned 7 months. If it was not for LSBR we would not have had this opportunity for Gideon to be in our lives-he is such a big part of our family.Thank you for everything you do for our community! -- Sincerely, Sarah & Josh --

Grover
Grover

Grover is doing awesome! We haven't had any problems other than a little anxiety when we put him in his crate and leave. Other than that he adores the kids and they adore him. He has found a huge place in our hearts and our home. I have attached two pictures that I sent to our family in the Midwest. Thanks again for everything. -- Gretchen Goebel --

Jewlz
Jewlz

Jewlz came into our family at the end of July, 2007. She is a petite boxer who compliments Piper, our male boxer wonderfully! She has also learned to co-exist with our three cats, however she is still fascinated with each one of them and follows them around the house at times just waiting to see what they will do next! Jewlz and Piper have become fast friends after she came to our home. Piper shares his futon with her as well as all his toys. Jewlz on the other hand is quite a stinker and keeps all her toys to herself. Piper will grab one of her toys just to aggravate her and then the chase is on! It is so fun to just sit back and watch them play! Their favorite outing is the City of Katy Off Leash Dog Park. Piper will hit the gate running but then stop and check on Jewlz. Jewlz will run and try to keep up with Piper but her legs are a bit shorter than his! They both behave themselves with the other dogs in the park and we are so proud of them. Also, they both love to go to the lake house and take a boat ride. They know that they have to wear their life jackets before we get on the boat because boxers sink rather than float! Neither one will jump into the lake but they like the wind blowing in face! My family has fallen in love with Jewlz and are so glad that Lone Star Boxer Rescue exists. Regardless of what Jewlz has suffered through in her past, she gets love, attention and companionship with our family. It's a great feeling to get greeted at the door by two "wiggle butts"!! -- Mark and Chris Koehn --

Honor
Honor

I wanted to send you some recent pictures of Lizzy (Honor) and her best friends. As you can see she is doing very well!! She has already become a big part of our family. She follows the kids around the house and is always disappointed when they leave for school without her. She will sit by the door and anxiously await their return. She had gone with the family on trips and she loves to ride in the car. She even likes family trips to the lake. It is hard to believe she has only been with us for a month. The most amazing thing about her is that, in spite of having a very tough life (pre-rescue), she still has an enormous capacity to love. We feel very lucky that she found her way into our lives. Thanks LSBR for all that you do.
