Reggie
Reggie is doing great! We are beginning to see a real change in him concerning all his fears. He loves being in the house and the bed is his domain. He owns it and he loves to snuggle and loves his blanket. We got him a new one for Christmas. He is very spoiled and he loves his cousin, Spencer (also adopted from LSBR). They spend quite a bit of time together. We love him so much and cannot imagine life without him. The Spence family

Sissy Puppy #5
Humphrey was two years old October 26, 2011. He is a rescue boxer mix whom we adopted December of 2009 and gave him the name of Humphrey. His mother, Sissy, was abandoned while pregnant and gave birth shortly after being dropped off at Tails of Texas. She had a litter of ten puppies and as the puppies were born, they were given a number for a name.
We first met Humphrey when he was about 6 weeks old. We saw his picture before we ever met him. Our daughter sent us a picture of Humphrey while we were out of town and told us that she and her family would be adopting him. By the time we got back in town, she called to say that she was not going to adopt him due to her work and travel schedule and a puppy just didn't fit their busy life. She knew we had been talking about getting another dog and suggested we go see the puppies. We went to the kennel to see Sissy's puppies (10) and fell in love with #5 (which happened to be the one our daughter was going to adopt). Needless to say, Humphrey had our hearts and we brought him home the week before Christmas.
We had not considered a puppy as we had an 11 year old Lapso-Apso terrier mix, Harley, and at that time we were not sure how he would react to a puppy in the house. He had, and still has, that enduring, loving personality of a puppy that makes you want to hold and snuggle with him. It took about two months for Harley to accept Humphrey. He was not amused that he had to share his home and people. Now, they are best friends, running and playing together. Harley plays with Humphrey with an energy of a puppy and Humphrey has a new found respect for Harley, who can take him down by the jowls when he is fed up with Humphrey's pestering.
Humphrey is a sweet, loving and funny boxer mix and 70 pounds of muscle and love. Sometimes he thinks he is a lap dog and it is pretty funny at his size and weight. His favorite place to nap is laying on his back in my husband's lap with his feet in the air. At night he likes to snuggle up on the couch with me while I am watching television. He starts at the far end of the couch and slowly pulls his body towards me until his head is in my lap and one paw across my leg. Humphrey's personality fits perfectly with our family. One of his favorite things to do is roll around with our seven year old grandson. Additionally, he interacts well with the three other dogs of our daughters. He has become a much loved part of our family.
We are very pleased with Humphrey and Lone Star Boxer Rescue. This was a perfect match.

Kindee
Kindee's former foster mom asked if I would like to write a Success Story for Kindee. I couldn't pass up the opportunity. From what I've learned, she was a special part of LSBR. After personally watching LSBR from the sidelines for a few years now, we decided we were in the market for a second Boxer. We came across Kindee's picture and description, and decided that she very much sounded like the dog for our family and vice versa. Three and a half weeks ago, we had our Home Visit and were approved as a LSBR Adopter family. Two weekends ago, Kindee came to meet us to see if we fit her needs. Quite instantaneously, it was known that a match that fit both ways was found. Our week and a half together since has gone even better than I could have hoped. Kindee has blended seamlessly into our big, busy family. She has openly accepted it all without so much as a hiccup. Her manners, temperament and tolerance leave absolutely nothing to be corrected. Food and treats make me a bit cautious with kids around the dogs' level, but Kindee proved completely obedient. She has waited patiently as our toddler, jabbering and slow, helps me fill the bowls, and she has accepted treats with utmost care and gentleness from the kids' fingers. It's also been so joyful to watch Kindee with our 10 year old Boxer, for whom I really wanted a BFF. We've watched Cooper and Kindee run full speed together in the field. It was so exciting to see her comfortable and excited enough to RUN for the first time. She's beautiful stretched out at full-stride. The two of them roll in the grass, lounge in the sun, and stroll through the wooded areas sniffing this and that. Kindee licks Cooper's muzzle in happiness, snoozes with him when they're tuckered out, rides in the backseat together, and goes out for the bedtime potty in the moonlight. Cooper is certainly enjoying her company. When I originally filled out the adoption application, the kids (thinking we would be getting a puppy) were worried that I was getting some "sleepy, old, boring dog," because I wrote that I was looking for more low-keyed, floor lounging, 'flashy" art that I could step over in the kitchen while getting dinner ready. Kindee fits that bill (as she loves to get her snooze and snore on), but she is sooo much more than that. She has matched us step for step in being a part of our family in all that we've done this week, and is HARDLY some old, boring dog!! Happily, the fit is mutual for Kindee, too. I am home all day with her, Cooper and our toddler. Everyone goes out and in to their hearts' content, flops around the house, doing just about anything they want...which is mostly just following Mom around. Can't let me get too far out of sight - true to the Boxer (and toddler) breed!! Paula, Matt, and the LSBR organization have done such a wonderful thing rescuing Kindee, caring for her all this time, waiting on the perfect match-up for her. And, we couldn't be happier to be her match-up! That's Kindee's Success Story! (10/11) ~The Gossett Family

Lucky
Hello,
My name is Kristin Holland and I just wanted to write a note and give you an update on a boxer named Lucky that we adopted in 2006. Lucky is a beautiful flashy brindle male boxer, and despite his monstrous size (92 lbs) he is so very sweet and gentle. My husband John and I were looking for a large breed dog that could get along with our, at the time, tiny 3 year old little boy. We went to LSBR in Nov of 2006 to look at a couple of dogs we had seen online, but all of the ones we had in mind were too rambuncious for our little Ethan. So I saw Luck in a yard gingerly walking around, and decided to see if he and Ethan would mesh. When we entered the yard with Lucky he more or less ignored my husband and I and immediately began to follow Ethan around. They were friends instantly, and I told my husband, "He's the one". We took Luck home that night and Ethan and Luck have been inseparable ever since.
Ethan however is not the only one who has been blessed by having Lucky in our home. In Dec 2006 just one month after bringing Lucky home I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 25. During the long days and even longer nights of chemo therapy Lucky would lie in bed with me for sometimes 12 hrs at a time, he laid outside the shower while I would bathe, and followed me from room to room when I was well enough to get around. He was such a great comfort in a very difficult time for me. He has brought our family so much joy! My husband and Lucky also have a special bond! They take rides in the truck together, and play tug of war, but mostly Lucky just wants to snuggle.
When we adopted Lucky we were living in Katy TX, in the summer of 2007 we moved to Colorado where Lucky got to experience snow and mountains, and now we are in Rolla MO planning to take Luck with us to Japan in a few months. Luck and Ethan have grown up together and through all of the moves the one constant for Ethan is Mom Dad and Lucky. In 2008 we added a second boxer to the family. We adopted her from a family that was moving overseas and did not want to take her. Her name is Sasha and her and Lucky are quite a pair.
Thank you so much for all that you do! We love Lucky so very much, and are so blessed to have him in our lives! We were told that when the rescue found Lucky on the side of I-10 in sealy that he was starving, beat up and had heartworms. Other shelters may have not even bothered with him. Thank you so much for nursing him back to health and finding him a foster home until he could find his forever home with us!

Monroe (now Manny)
Although he's only been with us for about a month, Monroe (now Manny) has quickly found a permanent place in our hearts. He's smart, quick, and bursting with energy. Manny loves attention and if he sees that you've taken your eyes off of him for just a moment, he quickly tries to find a permanent place in your footwear. Lol! He's a bit of a chewer, but that's okay... We know he's only trying to find ways to channel his energy. Manny loves the couch and has already claimed part of it as his own. When he's not lounging around, he's making friends at the dog park, taunting squirrels, or continues the endless mission to capture his tail. Maybe one day he'll succeed. He loves his rubbery toys and appreciates them since he's already ripped through all the plush ones.
It would be difficult to picture our days now without our Manny in it. Thank you to LSBR and to Robin for bringing him into our lives.
